Policeman, Homeguard killed in clash

Sasaram, Bihar, May 25 (UNI) A policeman and a homeguard jawan were killed in a clash between homeguard personnel and district police at Nokha Bazar under Nokha police station of Rohtas district today.

Official sources said Jawans of district police and Homeguard were engaged in a scuffle over some trivial issue at the premises of Nokha Bazar Samiti where they had been stationed in connection with ongoing Panchayat election. During the scuffle, an agitated homeguard jawan opened fire at district police personnel, killing a police constable Kamlesh Singh on the spot.

In retaliation, district policemen took a jawan of homeguard Antu Bind in their custody and later lynched him, sources added.

Senior district officials rushed to the spot following the incident where situation was stated to be tense but under control.

Police reinforcements were rushed to the spot.
