No possibility for ban on rubber export: Board Chairman

Kottayam, May 25 (UNI) Rubber Board Chairman Sajen Peter today ruled out the possibility of a ban on rubber export.

Inaugurating a two-month intensive campaign for rubber growers here, he said there was no possibility of a ban on the basis of WTO norms. As the international price was higher than domestic price, even without subsidy rubber could be exported, he asserted.

To make export permanent, quality should be maintained, he said and emphasised the need for strengthening the Rubber Producers Societies (RPSs) by strengthening small growers fellowship.

The intensive campaign would conclude on July 28.
