Monsoon to hit Kerala in 2/3 days

Thiruvananthapuram, May 25 (UNI) The south-west monsoon is likely to hit the Kerala coast in a couple of days with all conditions in favour for its onset.

The wind gained strength and conditions were suitable for the arrival of the monsoon in two or three days, the Meteorological Department here said.

The normal onset of monsoon in Kerala was June one while this year it had been predicted on May 30, two days in advance.

Meanwhile, rain occurred at many places in Kerala as well as Lakshwadeep.

The Met department said Irikkur, Thodupzha and Varkala recorded three cm of rainfall. Alappuzha, Kochi, Alwaye, Kottayam and Kunnamkulam received two cm rainfall, they added.

They also warned of isolated heavy rains in most parts of Kerala and Lakshwadeep.
