Medicos' strike enters 10th day
Kanpur, May 25 (UNI) The indefinite strike by junior doctors and students of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College against OBC reservation, in institutions of higher education, today entered its 10th day.
The agitation continued to paralyse health services in all the five hospitals attached with GSVM here.
The striking medicos claimed to receive a moral support from engineering college students including the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K).
They took out a candle-light procession from the Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital to register their protest against the proposed 27 per cent quota to OBCs.
Meanwhile, the call given by Indian Medical Association (IMA) to observe a day's strike left no impact on the practicing doctors in Uttar Pradesh.
IMA UP unit president T N Singh said the doctors had already protested by observing a day's token strike on May 20.
