Income from wakf properties increase
Kolkata, May 25 (UNI) Income from wakf properties in West Bengal have increased from Rs 12 crore to Rs 32 crore annually.
Wakf Board chairman Hannan Mollah said out of 8044 wakf properties, surveys were completed in 4046 properties in the state.
Minister of state for Minorities Development and Welfare Department Abdus Sattar said survey of wakf properties in West Bengal and their better utilisation for charitable purposes should be ensured for welfare of Muslims. He was speaking at a two-day 'Workshop on Wakf Affairs', organised by the state Board of Wakf.
Mr Sattar said educational institutions, students' hostels and health centres, need to be opened on wakf properties.
He said the state government is taking up comprehensive plans under Vision-2010 for the development of minorities.
