Grenada PM hails Lara and co after back-to-back wins
Port of Spain, May 25 (UNI) Grenada's Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell has congratulated the West Indies team for their fighting spirit and back-to-back wins against India in the ongoing one day series.
Dr Mitchell, also chairman of the CARICOM Sub-Committee on Cricket, said both the team and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) went through tough times but the recent performance, including the side's 5-0 whitewash of Zimbabwe, would again help the game.
''What I admire most about the West Indies team is the fighting spirit they have demonstrated. Even when they have faced daunting tasks, they have fought back hard,'' Dr Mitchell told reporters after the hosts took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
He also felt that the sharp rise in the team's performance augurs well for next year's World Cup and said, ''I am sure this is pleasing to every West Indian fan and sends the right message for our successful hosting of the World Cup. I want to extend best wishes and continued success to the captain, coaching staff and the entire team.'' UNI XC AY RR BD1145
