Girls bag more A+ grades in SSLC examinations

Thiruvananthapuram, May 25 (UNI) About 68.95 per cent of the candidates who appeared for the SSLC examinations in Kerala are eligible for higher studies.

Announcing the results here today Education Minister M A Baby said out of 1799 students, who bagged A+ grade, the highest grade in the SSLC scheme, 1,268 were girls.

Twenty eight students belonging to the Scheduled Caste and 11 from the Scheduled tribe also got A+ grade.

He said about 100 schools in the state had cent per cent results with Kottayam district having the largest pass percentage of 80.40.

Palakkad district was having the lowest pass percentage of 55.66.

The Provident school in Kozhikode earned the credit for the largest pass percentage.

The new grading system in the SSLC examination was introduced from the last academic year, replacing the mark and rank system.

As per the grading system, there would be nine grades to grade the students. Those securing 90 to 100 per cent marks in a particular subject would be awarded A+'grade and students scoring 30 to 39 per cent, would be given D+' grade. The D and E grades were given for those who score less marks.

Only those who score D+' and above grades in all the 13 papers would be eligible for higher studies.
