Four die in gas leakage in factory

Junagadh, May 25 (UNI) Four people died while five others suffered from serious health problems due to ammonia gas leakage from a tank at a sea-food factory at Dori village, about 100 km from here, in the district in Gujarat this afternoon.

According to sources here, the incident took place at the MPCL Factory, which is making powder after processing sea-food, this afternoon around 1330 hrs when one of the workers accidently fell into the tank and died in an attempt to inspect the under-processed material.

In a bid to save each other, the five other workers of the factory sustained severe eye and throat burns caused by the leaked ammonia gas.

The deceased have been identified as - Dharmesh Naran Fondy (30), manager of the factory, Ibrahim Mohammed Ishakani (27), his brother, Amzad (22) and Kamlesh Kanha Koli (26).

While all the five injured have been rushed to Civil hospital at Junagadh, where the condition of the four was stated to be serious.
