Exhibition of Hussain's paintings in UK cancelled
London, May 25: The Hindu Human Rights, a faith organisation, has postponed its May 27 protest demonstration before Asia House Gallery for the withdrawal of noted artist M F Hussain's painting of Hindu gods and goddesses, following the cancellation of the exhibition.
A statement of the Hindu Council UK said, ''It is in response to a communication we have had from Asia House (via email) that they have cancelled the exhibition of M F Husain's paintings, showing obscene images of Hindu Goddesses.'' ''We note that they have cancelled the exhibition for 'security reasons' and as yet have offered no apology to the Hindu community nor shown that they have taken into account the wider issues surrounding our campaign,'' it added.
The protest had been planned for 1500 hrs (local time) on May 27.
The Hindu Forum of Britain and Hindu Human Rights had been campaigning for the withdrawal of Husain's controversial paintings of Hindu goddesses exhibited at Asia House.
