Michael Essien recovers from toe injury

ACCRA, May 25: Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has recovered from a toe injury and will be available to play for Ghana in their World Cup warm-up against Turkey tomorrow.

The Ghana Football Association said on Thursday they would be able to choose from an injury-free squad for the friendly in Wurzburg, Germany.

Ghana began their World Cup preparations in Austria this week with Essien joining their training after overcoming the injury.

It is the first time that coach Ratomir Dujkovic has been able to select from a full squad.

Ghana bombed out in the first round of the African Nations Cup in Egypt in January where they were without the injured Essien and several other key players.

The Ghanaians have further warm-ups in Britain where they meet Jamaica in Leicester on Monday and South Korea in Edinburgh on June 4.

Ghana's first World Cup match is against Italy in Hanover on June 12. They also face the US and Czech Republic in Group E.
