Dacoits strike at 3 houses in a village

Hubli, May 25 (UNI) Dacoits struck at three houses, assaulted its inmates and decamped with jewellery and cash, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, at Kachavi village in Haveri district of Karnataka early today.

The police said the culprits, armed with lathis and iron rods, forced their way into all the houses and assaulted eight inmates, including three women, before escaping with the booty.

The injured were admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences here.

Senior police officials, including Inspector General of Police (northern range) Doraiswamy Naik and Superintendent of Police Siddanna visited the village.
