CII preparing action plan for Bengal
Kolkata, May 25 (UNI) The CII is preparing an action plan for West Bengal's industrial resurgence by integrating the Small and Medium Enterprises sector with large industries.
"We are preparing an action plan in collaboration with the state government for the state's industrial growth," newly-elected CII eastern region chairman Bushen Raina told newsmen.
Raina said the focus of the action plan would be on the SME sector. The plan is to concentrate on means to sharpen entrepreneureal skills to enhance social sustainability, he said.
The CII plans to be facilitators at the district level so that opportunities percolate at the grassroot level, Raina said. ''Our role will be to highlight the best industrial practices. We will also try to bring in prospective investors,'' he said.
Raina met state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta and Commerce and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen at the Writers' Buildings yesterday.
Describing West Bengal as a 'role model state' for investors, Raina said the occasional 'bandhs' in the state called by political parties are not an issue. ''Industrial relations here are fantastic.
The way people voted the Left Front government for the seventh time is a pointer. The people are the best judge,'' he said.
