Bush appoints Blake as US envoy to Sri Lanka
Washington, May 25 (UNI) US President George W Bush has nominated Robert O Blake, Jr, currently the Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi, to be the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
According to a White House annoucement, Mr Blake has also been nominated to serve concurrently as envoy to the Republic of the Maldives.
Mr Blake, a career diplomat of the Senior Foreign Service, prior to being posted as DCM in India, has served as Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the Department of State.
Earlier in his career, Mr Blake has served as an economic officer in Egypt, an economic officer in Nigeria and a political counselor in Tunisia.
Mr Blake received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his master's degree from The Johns Hopkins University.
