BAI asks Govt to check price hike in building materials

Visakhapatnam, May 25 (UNI) The Builders Association of India (BAI) today expressed its concern over the drastic increase in prices of construction materials, including steel, cement and aluminium.

Speaking to newspersons here, BAI Visakhapatnam Centre Chairman P Vishnu Kumar Raju said the recent hikes in prices of steel and cement will hike project costs.

The increase in prices come even as the construction industry is poised to witness a boom following rapid industrialisation and population growth.

Pointing out there was a 100 per cent increase in raw material prices in the last five years, he urged the state government to take effective measures to control the cost increase.
