Agitating medical students move SCBA for support
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Agitating medical science students spearheading agitation against reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions have approached the legal fraternity in Delhi including the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for support.
The SCBA president M N Krishnamani, told UNI that SCBA will take a decision after taking into confidence the executive committee of SCBA. The SCBA president, however, said ''Our considered view is that reservation can be there but creamy layer must be excluded, so that the benefits of reservation can go to those who really deserve it.'' SCBA secretary K C Kaushik, however, said he will take a decision on the issue soon after placing the request of 'Youth For Equality' before the executive committee.
The medicos have requested the legal fraternity including SCBA and Delhi High Court Bar Association to extend their support to the cause of the agitating students opposing 27.5 per cent reservation for OBCs announced by the HRD Minister Arjun Singh.
It may be recalled that the Union Cabinet has already decided to introduce the bill for reservation of OBCs in admission to medical science courses and other specialised courses in the coming session of the Parliament.
