12 candidates in fray for K'taka Council elections
Bangalore, May 25 (UNI) As many as 12 candidates are in the fray for the June one biennial elections to 11 seats in the Karnataka Legislative Council.
Independent candidate A Prasad withdrew his papers on the last day of withdrawal of nominations today, leaving behind four candidates each from the JD (S), BJP and Congress to contest the polls.
The results would be announced on the same day.
The elections were necessitated following the terms of nine members from the Congress and one each from the JD (S) and the BJP coming to an end.
The party position in the Assembly is as follows BJP-79, Congress-64 JD (S)-59 (nine from the AIPJD), JD (U)-five, Ind-13 and RPI, KCVP, KNP and CPI(M)--one each.
