Two major tragedies averted in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 24 (UNI) Security forces and police averted two major tragedies in the Kashmir valley when they detected and defused two powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by militants to target security forcess.
Official sources said security forces and police during a routine search noticed a bag in the general bus stand at Anantnag, about 50 km from here today.
The entire area was cordoned off and bomb disposal squad was summoned who later defused the IED.
However, there was no civilian in the bus stand due to strike.
A report from Baramulla said militants had planted a powerful IED Khawaja Bagh near flood gate to target security forces.
However, an alert security official noticed the IED and the bomb disposal squad was immediately summoned who defused it.
Sources said had these IEDs not been defused, these would have caused major damage to life and property.
