TN assembly session till May 31: Speaker

Chennai, May 24 (UNI) The first session of the 13th Legislative Assembly in Tamil Nadu, which began today with the customary Governor's address to the House, will be held till May 31.

Briefing newspersons after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which finalised the schedule and business transactions of the House, Assembly Speaker R Avudaiyappan said the House would make an obituary reference tomorrow on the death of 12 former MLAs and pass a condolence motion on the recent demise of former Speaker and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P T R Palanivel Rajan.

The House would be adjourned for the day without transacting any business, he added.

The motion of thanks to the Governor for his address to the House would be introduced on May 26 and the debate on the motion would begin. The discussion would continue for three days from May 27 to 30 except on May 28 which falls on a Sunday.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would give his reply to the discussion on May 30. Bills, if any, would be taken up on May 31, the Speaker said.
