Three arrested, explosives seized on NH

Imphal, May 24 (UNI) Assam Rifles personnel have arrested three persons along with explosives on National Highway-53 under Tamenglong district.

An Assam Rifles official said based on specific intelligence reports, a mobile vehicle check post was established by 38 Assam Rifles at Mile Stone Noney, Tamenglong district.

Six gelatin sticks, 12 detonators and safety fuses were recovered from them.

Further interrogation revealed they had picked up the IED material from a woman. Later, on searching the shop of the woman, 17 gelatin sticks, 48 detonators, 10 mts safety fuse and 20 kg of Granules Punch were seized.

All the three have been handed over to Noney Police outpost.

Police is carrying out further interrogation as to how and from where the explosive material reached Noney.
