Security beefed-up at Vaishno Devi Dham after fidayeen attack
Jammu, May 24 (UNI) Following the intensified fidayeen attacks in Srinagar, the heightened alert has been sounded across the Jammu and Kashmir and security of sensitive places including Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Udhampur and Raghunath temple has been beefed up, police and army sources here said today.
Sources said, full alert has been sounded and security in all the district police circles has also been beefed up and additional police and CRPF personnel deployed.
''The frustrated militants may execute grenade attacks, target civilians of a particular community with the intention to derail the round table conference and the peace process between India and Paksitan,'' said official sources.
The terrorists outfits have openly threatened that they will not allow the government to succeed in organising such conferences.
According to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, S P Vaid, all district police circle heads have been instructed to initiate random checking, besides maintaining surveillance at all sensitive points,'' he informed.
As part of the security initiative, various teams of Special Operation Group (SOG) and the police jointly conducting random checking of four-wheelers and removed black films from windows of at least 100 vehicles that did not carry permission for the same.
Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and SOG of police teams were also alerted. While random checking was done in the interiors, the outskirts of the city were also monitored with police teams scanning the nearby forest reaches.
Suicide attacks in Srinagar on May 21 and 23 a dozen people were killed and injured at least 83 others, including some top police officials.
