Jammu, May 24 (UNI) Full alert has been sounded across jammu and Kashir following the spate of terror attacks in Srinagar, police and army sources said here today.
Sources said security in all the districts has been stepped up. The security at famous Vaishno Devi temple in Udhampur district and Raghunath temple in Jammu city has also been beefed up and additional police and CRPF personnel deployed.
The militants might attempt to carry out grenade attacks and target civilians with the intention of derailing the round table conference and the peace process between India and Pakistan, official sources added.
The terrorist outfits have openly threatened they will not allow the Government to succeed in organising such conferences.
According to Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu zone, S P Vaid, all district police circle heads have been instructed to initiate random checking, besides maintaining surveillance at sensitive points.
As part of the security initiative, various teams of Special Operation Group (SOG) and the police were jointly conducting random checking of four-wheelers and removed black films from window of at least 100 vehicles that did not carry permission for the same.
Quick Reaction Teams (QRTS) and SOG of police were also alerted. While random checking was done in the interiors, the outskirts of the city were also monitored by scanning the nearby forest reaches.
Suicide attacks in Srinagar on May 21 and 23 killed a dozen people and injured at least 83 others, including some top police officials.
