Second youth injured in bike accident dies

Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) The second boy injured in the accident when two youths sped on a motorcycle, allegedly to escape from police, died today, three days after his companion succumbed to injuries.

With the death of Moshin and Sharief, who were driving helmetless, police have made elaborate arrangements to avoid such untoward incidents.

The duo were speeding on their motorbike on Sunday when their vehicle hit an electric pole and a road divider. According to some eye witness accounts, traffic police were chasing the youths for driving without a helmet.

Sharief died at a local hospital the same day while Moshin was admitted to a corporate hospital in Nampally with severe injuries.

He died this morning.

State Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir visited the hospital and consoled the family members of Moshin. He told the media near the hospital that the state government had already granted Rs two lakh ex-gratia to Sharief's family members, a contract job to his wife and efforts were on to allot a house to the family. Likewise, relief would be given to Moshin's family. The government had also decided to give a loan through the State Minority Welfare Department to Moshin's brother, who repairs cycles, and other benefits.

Majlis Ittehedul Muslimeem (MIM) floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and MIM activists came to the hospital and raised slogans against the police.

Meanwhile, police made elaborate security arrangements in the Old City, from where both the youths hailed. The situation was tense when Mohsin's funeral procession was taken out today. After the funeral, a group of youngsters objected to police following them and raised slogans against the police attiude.

In the Old City some shops were closed and black flags were flown.
