'Reservations should continue till equality is achieved'

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) PMK founder president Dr S Ramadoss and Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal today said that the reservations should continue till all the sections of the society come at equal level.

''Reservations for SC, ST, and OBC should continue till all the weaker sections of the society come at equal level,'' observed both the leaders while talking to reporters here today.

Dr Ramadoss, said though OBCs got political and economic justice, they were still deprived of social justice.

''My party is founded to give social justice to the weaker sections of the society and I have come here in support of resevation and will tour other states of the country soon,'' Dr Ramadoss added.

Mr Bhjbal, who heads the Mahatma Phule Samata Parishad, while reacting to Centre's decision about reservation to OBCs said, ''I am not completely happy with yesterday's decision as it will be implemented from next year.'' He further said he was worried about the opposition to the reservation.

''We are not snatching anything from anybody we just want that we should get our rights,'' Mr Bhujbal said.

Dr Ramadoss appealed the striking students to call off their agitation keeping in view interest of the nation as reservation is a national policy and it is enjoined upon the government by the constitution.

He also appealed to the media to project the cause of social justice in an 'objective and non partisan' manner.

Commenting on the statement made by NCP MLA Ms Shalinitai Patil that the reservation policy should be revoked, Mr Bhujbal, said the party would take action against her.
