Rajasthan makes marriage registrations compulsory
Jaipur, May 24 (UNI) Rajasthan has made registration of marriages compulsory.
The state home department officials say now it would be necessary to produce marriage certificates for getting ration cards made, land allocation, transfer of land, lease deeds and also for taking electricity and water connections.
After the Supreme Court's order in this matter, the state government has issued official orders to make marriage registrations mandatory after holding several rounds of discussions.
The registration of new marriages will cost Rs 10 while the fees for old couples wanting to get their marriage registered done will be Rs 20. People can get their marriage registered sitting at home by paying a fee of Rs 50.
