No let up in security cover for Jaya: TN Govt
Chennai, May 24 : The Tamil Nadu Government today denied the security cover to Former Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa had been reduced.
Referring to reports in the media that a representation has been made about reduction in security cover for Ms Jayalalithaa, an official release said Ms Jayalalithaa was entitled for 'Z Plus' and NSG security cover.
''There is no reduction in this security scale laid down in the rules,'' it added.
Two personal security officers were on duty round-the-clock apart from police guards at her residence. Two escort vehicles with state police and two additional escort vehicles with NSG personnel had been deployed for security during movement.
''Totally, four vehicles form part of the escort component. In addition, screening watchers have also been earmarked. In all 55 officers and men, including NSG personnel, are deployed in three shifts,'' it said and added Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police have been asked to make necessary law and order arrangements whenever Ms Jayalalithaa attended meetings.
