Naxals set 5 trucks afire in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, May 24 (UNI) A group of Naxals set five trucks on fire in different places in Gadchiroli district in the early hours today, police said.

Gadchiroli police told UNI here over the phone that at around 0230 hrs, a truck carrying a marriage party was stopped near Sindesur village on Malewada-Sursindhi road in Dhanora taluka of Gadchiroli district. The members of the marriage party were asked to get down and the truck was torched.

Two other trucks, laden with bamboos, were set on fire between Murumgaon and Hattigota under the Dhanora police jurisdiction while two more trucks were set on fire between Murumgaon and Savargaon at about 0300 hrs.

Nobody, however, was harmed in these incidents, police said.

After burning the trucks, the Naxalites fled the scene.
