Members take oath in Kerala Assembly
Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 (UNI) Newly-elected members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly today took oath as MLAs on the first day of the two-day session.
Pro-tem Speaker V J Thankappan administered the oath to the 140 members of the 12th Assembly of whom 64 are new faces.
Kerala Congress (M) Leader K M Mani took oath as MLA for the tenth time, followed by Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for the ninth consecutive time.
The election for the post of Speaker will be held tomorrow.The Marxist-led Left Democratic Front, which has 98 members in the 140-member House, has nominated Former Minister K Radhakrishnan for the post, while Congress member M Murali is the United Democratic Front candidate.
