Medical services hit with doctors indefinite strike

Chandigarh, May 24 (UNI) Medical services in most of the government and private medical colleges in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh remand affected on the tenth consecutive day today as resident doctors and medical students continued with their stir against reservation.

At PGIMER here, protesting resident doctors ran parallel OPD and examined 410 patients. The resident doctors and medical students of Government Medical College and Hospital blocked the Chandigarh-Delhi national highway for sometime.

In Amritsar, medical services were affected at Guru Nanak Hospital, the SGPC run Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Services and Research due to the ongoing strike by residents doctors and students.

Medical services at Dayananad Medical College (DMC), Ludhiana were affected as strike of medical students and resident doctors continued. However, Christian Medical College (CMC) continued to function normally.

Medical services in PGIMS, Rohtak were hit as resident doctors and medical students continued with their strike.

The doctors and students of Dental College of Ch Devi Lal Vidhyapeeth, Sirsa went on strike in protest against the reservation policy.

In Patiala, the emergency and OPD services were hit as medical students, with interns and junior doctors of Government Medical College, Government Ayurvedic College, Government Dental College and Government Rajindra Hospital continued with their anti-quota agitation. The doctors today discontinued the parallel OPDs and blocked the traffic on Patiala-Sangrur highway for about half an hour.
