MCX index closes 36.69 pts down at 2311.52

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 4,571.02 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2311.52 down by 36.69 points (-1.59 per cent). The total trades registered were 64,709.

The MCX metal index closed at 2667.01, down by 102.08 points (-3.83 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2663.07 down by 27.29 points (-1.02 per cent) and MCX agri index closed at 1604.47, up by 19.29 (1.20 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 3426.47 crore, including various MCX gold at Rs 2180.97 crore and MCX silver at Rs 1245.49 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 40,800. The open interest for gold was 9,655 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 267,610 kg.

In the metal segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 699.23 crore with 13,776 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 26.99 crore with 907 trades. MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 180.94 crore with 2,184 trades.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 76.93 crore with open interest of 390,600 BBL.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 22.88 crore with 957 trades and mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 25.30 crore with 1,317 trades.

MCX gold June-06 closed at Rs 9,810 up by Rs 194 (1.98 per cent); August closed at Rs 10,001 up by Rs 207 (2.07 per cent) and October closed at Rs 10,225 up by Rs 183 (1.79 per cent).

MCX silver July-06 closed at Rs 19,469 up by Rs 869 (4.46 per cent); Sept closed at Rs 20,187 up by Rs 852 (4.22 per cent) and Dec closed at Rs 20,847 up by Rs 258 (1.24 per cent).
