MCD deseals 2223 commercial units in Delhi
New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) With the Centre's notification on Saturday of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Bill, 2006 bringing into force a one-year moratorium on the sealing and demolition process in Delhi, the desealing operation by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which began yesterday, gathered momentum with the civic body removing the seals of 2223 shops today.
The deasealing process, which began in all the 12 zones of Delhi yesterday morning, saw the MCD removing seals of 561 shops yesterday.
The maximum number of 627 shops were desealed in the Shahdara (South) followed by 272 in Karol Bagh, 265 in West Zone, 258 in central zone, 210 in Civil lines, 178 in city zone, 149 in Shahdara (North) and 107 in Sadar Paharganj.
Yesterday, the MCD desealed 189 shops in the city zone, 100 each in West zone and Shahdara (South), 76 in Rohini, 30 in Shahdara (North) and 26 in Nazafgarh.
With today's desealing, the MCD has desealed a total of 2784 properties.
The desealing of the commercial units comes following the notification of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Bill, 2006 which places a one-year moratorium, effective from January 1, 2006, on the demolition and sealing drives undertaken at the instance of orders of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court respectively.
