JD (U) to contest UP elections on its own: Yadav

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav today said that after testing victory in Bihar, the party is now concentrating on the Uttar Pradesh elections where it will contest on its own.

Talking to UNI, Mr Yadav said, ''We allied with BJP during the last assembly elections, but now we want to strengthen our party in Uttar Pradesh also.'' Asked whether JD(U) faced the danger of a split following its former president George Fernandes' defeat in the party's presidential elections, Mr Yadav said there would not be any split and Mr Fernandes will be in the JD (U) and is the convenor of NDA.
