GMDA chalks out an ambitious plan to revamp Guwahati infra
Guwahati, May 24 (UNI) An ambitious master plan has been chalked to improve the infrastructure of the capital city of Asom by Guwahati Municipal Development Authority (GMDA) in consultation with the Infrastructure Leasing and Finance Limited (ILFS).
GMDA would receive a huge external aid of Rs 3100 crore for the next five years, which would be spent in improving drinking water supply in all localities in greater city area.
In a bid to make this project successful, the state government has embarked on a demolition drive to clear the capital city of unauthorised structures and building.
Guwahati Development Department(GDD) Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma said here today that three such structures were demolished today.
He informed that 192 buildings, 182 under jurisdiction of Guwahati Municipal Corporation and 10 under Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority were identified, which had flouted building norms.
