Cong alleges scam in Noida land auction

Lucknow, May 24 (UNI) The Congress today alleged a large scale bungling in the auction of commercial land in Noida yesterday, demanding it to be re-processed.

The 300 acre of plots in sectors 96, 97 and 98 were auctioned to a private party at a rate much lower than prevailing in the market, which smacks of large scale corruption, chief spokesperson of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee A P Singh said here today in a release.

He claimed the market rate of these plots was more than Rs 40,000 per sq mt. However, the Noida Development Authority (NDA) officers had fixed the minimum rate at Rs 15,000 per sq mt, which was later lowered to Rs 5740.

''It was done deliberately to give benefit a private company, which was declared defaulter during the last regime of Ms Mayawati in UP,'' the release alleged.

Mr Singh said the government could have realised Rs 4,500 crore more if the land was auctioned in proper manner. ''It shows commissionmust have been pain in the deal.'' The UPCC spokesperson has also sent letters in this regard to the CBI and Chief Vigilance Commissioner demanding cancellation of yesterday's auction and calling for fresh auction of the prime property.
