Commission to enquire irregular appointment of Teachers

Guwahati, May 24 (UNI) The Asom government has appointed Justice (Retd) S K Kar to head the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of large number of teachers in excess of sanctioned posts since May, 1996 throughout the state.

According to the terms of reference of the one man commission it will enquire into the appointment of excess teachers under Director of Elementary Education and Director of Secondary Education since May 1996 as violation of statutory requirements.

The commission, after identification of such teachers, will fix responsibilities against people who made such appointment and also suggest measures to avoid similar situation in future and any other matter that might come up in course of the enquiry.

The Commission will submit its report within six months according to the notification issued here on May 20.
