Chandy elected Congress' Legislature party leader
Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 (UNI) The Congress today unanimously elected former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as its legislature party leader in the Kerala Assembly.
Since the Congress was heading the United Democratic Front, it was almost certain that Mr Chandy would become the leader of the opposition.

Out of the UDF's total of 42 MLAs in the 140-member assembly, the Congress had 25 legislators.
The meeting was attended by Pradesh Congress President Ramesh Chennithala, UDF Convenor P P Thankachan, former speaker Therambil Ramakrishnan and party in-charge of Kerala Veerappa Moily.
