CG chief to commission Beypore Stn tomorrow

Kozhikode, May 24 (UNI) Coast Guard Director General Prabhakaran Paleri will commission the Beypore Coast Guard Station at Beypore village near here tomorrow.

Built on a 4.3 acre landscape, CG Station Beyore will be the 21st station in the country and the second in the maritime state of Kerala, according to an official release here today.

The station would intially have two interceptor craft (ICS) at its disposal for quick response to distress calls from fishermen, and for maritime surveillance and security, it said.

These assets would be augmented from time to time based on evolving threat perceptions, the release added.
