Srinagar, May 24: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the recently exposed sex racket, today produced the list of 70 people, including senior politicians, bureaucrats and security and police officials, before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
Not satisfied with the pace of investigation, a Division Bench comprising Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani and Justice Hakim Imtiyaz directed police to provide a special team of officers to the CBI for speeding up the investigation.
Saying this was not an ordinary case, the court ordered the CBI to bring all the details about the investigation by Monday.
The list named 70 active and former politicians, bureaucrats, security and police officials besides businessmen, allegedly involved in the sex racket.
However, the names of accused were not made public.
Official sources said the CBI had given names of ten people to local police to locate them so that they could be paraded for identification. However, police could bring only one person who was also later released after he was not identified by the victims.
The court had on May 19 ordered the CBI to conduct an identification parade in presence of a magistrate the people named by the alleged kingpin, Sabeena, of the racket and the minor girl who was part of it, in their statements.
The court said once the identities of the people were established, necessary action should be initiated against them.
The bench also cancelled bail of the people accused in the case.
Two people, Riyaz Ahmad Langoo and Naseer Ahmad, were released by a local court on bail in March.
The bench ordered that any person arrested in the sex scandal case by the CBI should not be bailed out by the subordinate courts without bringing the matter to its notice.
The sex racket came to light when some local residents in the Habba Kadal locality lodged a complaint with police station Shaheedgunj alleging that some pimps were forcing innocent girls into flesh trade.
Later, the officer of the police station concerned raided a number of places and arrested four people, including kingpin Sabeena.
It is being alleged that more than 43 girls were forced to pose for porn films.
The case was handed over to the CBI after massive protests were staged across the valley demanding action against the politicians and others involved in the sex racket.
