CBI files chargesheet against 2 govt officials
New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) The CBI has filed a chargesheet in a city court against two senior Government officials for allegedly demanding a bribe from a man two years ago.
The CBI chargesheeted Damber Singh, the Sub-Divisional Manager, and D P Verma, a retired consultant of TCIL (Telecommunications Consultants India Limited), New Delhi, in the court of Special Judge Indermit Kaur Kochchar yesterday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from one Anil Kumar Bhasin.
The CBI registered a case on the complaint of Bhasin that he was awarded a contract between December 2001 and January 2002 by the TCIL for trenching and cable laying work in the South Delhi area.
But to pass the contract, both the accused demanded a bribe, he alleged.
The duo were chargesheeted under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 7, 13, 13 (2) and 13 (1) (D) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988.
