Businessmen brothers shot in Thane
Karnal, May 24 (UNI) Two businessmen brothers, hailing from Nilokheri township in the district, were killed by unidentified assailants at their shop at Thane in Maharashtra.
The assailants opened fire at Shyam Sunder Khanna and his brother Praveen Khanna and then mercilessly stabbed yesterday, reports received here said today.
Shyam died on the spot while Praveen died later in a private hospital in Mumbai.
The incident triggered terror as the shopkeepers of the area fled the scene pulling down their shutters. Three persons were said to have been rounded up by the Mumbai police.
Khanna brothers had left for Mumbai in the seventies and had opened up a book shop opposite Thane Railway Station. In due course of time, they became proud owners of eight shops in Thane.
Business rivalry, it is said, could be the cause of their killing.
Their cremation took place in Mumbai today.
