Bomb kills at least 11 at Baghdad Shi'ite mosque

BAGHDAD, May 23 (Reuters) A bomb exploded outside a Shi'ite mosque in Baghdad today, killing at least 11 people, police sources said.

Interior Ministry sources said seven people were wounded in the blast in Baghdad's Tunis district. The sources said they were investigating reports the bomb was hidden in a motorcycle parked near the mosque.

Car bombs killed at least 10 people in Baghdad earlier on Tuesday in two separate attacks, police said, underlining the security challenge facing Iraq's still incomplete government.

US and Iraqi officials say Sunni Arab militants loyal to the al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, carry out major bombings against Shi'ite targets in a bid to draw the majority community into a sectarian civil war.
