Bangla President to fly Singapore today for treatment
Dhaka, May 24 (UNI) Bangladesh President Dr Iajuddin Ahmed, who has been suffering from cardiac problem, will be flown to Singapore this afternoon for treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
A medical board headed by Prof Brig M A Malek decided in the morning to send the ailing President to Singapore for ''better treatment'', President's Press Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman Chowdhury said.
Asked about the President's condition, Mr Chowdhury said ''he is now stable.'' The President would be flown to Singapore by an air ambulance, he added.
Dr Iajuddin Ahmed, 75, was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here yesterday afternoon.
The President was taken to the CMH at 1530 hrs local time for medical check-up, but was admitted when he complained of pain in chest, Mr Chowdhury said.
