Admiral Roughead on 3-day visit to city

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Admiral Gary Roughead, Commander of US Pacific Fleet, arrived here on a three-day visit.

The Pacific Fleet is one of the world's largest combined fleets with more than 190 ships and submarines in addition to 1,400 aircraft.

Admiral Roughead was presented with a 50-men Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the Western Naval Command Headquarters today.

Later, he called on Vice Admiral Sangram Singh Byce, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Admiral Roughead was also given a presentation on capabilities and responsibilities of the Command. This was followed by a visit to the Naval Dockyard and INS Mysore.

The visit would further stregnthen the Indo-US Defence relationship, especially in the area of naval cooperation, a defence release here said.
