50 Mizo artisans to get credit cards
Aizawl, May 24 (UNI) Artisans would be the first beneficiaries of cashless transaction in Mizoram, new to the concept of credit cards.
Talking to UNI here today, handicrafts promotion officer T Rollee Vareishin informed that the office of development commissoner handicrafts has launched the new Artisans credit card scheme to boost the local handicrafts artisans for the first time in the NE region.
''We have a tie-up with the State Bank of India, regional office, to process all the credit card applications received by us from the artisans'', he said adding about 50 artisans would be getting the credit card soon.
Mr Rollee informed that they had already fowarded 50 more applications from different artisans to the bank.
Our department would encourage people to participate in different 'craft melas' across the country, this credit card would be useful to fulfill their travelling expenses in case of financial shortage, he said adding these people could also purchase raw-materials through the card whenever they want.
