35,000 farmers committed suicide during UPA rule: Sharad Yadav
Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Janata Dal (U) president Sharad Yadav today said more than 35,000 farmers have committed suicide so far during the UPA rule at the Centre and criticised the central government for creating more unemployment and corruption.
Mr Yadav told reporters the real estate and educational institutes have became prime attraction for business under UPA rule.
He further stressed for the need to upgrade old traditional colleges and institutions like All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
''The country needs higher education through tradtitional colleges,'' the former union aviation minister said.
Endorsing yesterday's announcement by the union government regarding reservation, Mr Yadav wondered whether merit really counted when 1.27 lakh students got admission into professional colleges in 2003 by paying donations.
