Yesteryear star Krishna Jyothi passes away

Chennai, May 23 (UNI) Renowned yesteryear South Indian actor and writer Krishna Jyothi, who had acted in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films died at a private hospital here this evening, following a brief illness.

She was 66. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, according to her family sources.

Krishna Jyothi was the wife of noted dubbing artiste and actor P J Sarma and mother of dubbing artiste turned hero Sai Kumar, dubbing artiste Ravi Shankar and film director Ayyappa Sharma. Sai Kumar had also acted in several Kannada films.

Krishna Jyothi, whose well known Kannada films included ''Bhagya Dhara'', ''Makkal Rajyam'' and ''Krishna Garadi'', was also a short story writer. She had also written for films. She herself had dubbed for 50 films.

The last rites (rpt) rites will be performed at Chennai on Thursday. The body was kept at the family's Valasaravakkam residence here for the film industry to pay their last respects.
