SRM Tech, Japan wave ink pact on dedicated facility
Chennai, May 23 (UNI) SRM Technologies Private Limited, a constituent of the SRM Group, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan Wave for setting up a dedicated software Offshore Development Centre (ODC).
The MoU was signed between Japan Wave Director Ayoako Okamota and SRM CEO S Chandrasekharan here today.
Later, speaking to reporters, Mr Chandrasekharan said the ODC would be involved in new developments and enhancement of the Digital Rights Management Solution Production (DRM), a technology which was successfully patended by Japan Wave in Japan and other parts of the world.
He said SRM had been associated with Japan Wave as its technology partner for the past four years in developing the state-of-the-art DRM product range.
DRM is a very unique technology developed to cut cost on film-making and provide foolproof copy protection. It is now used in films, internet-based downloads of music, games and movies, he said.
The Centre, set up with a total investment of two lakh USD, with dedicated infrastructure and a team of Indian software professionals will be an extended arm of the Japan Wave development centre in Osaka,Japan.
Mr Chandrasekahran said the technology could be widely used in content distribution applications such as internet video rentals, Direct-to-Home and Direct-to-Theatre film distributon and secured data distribution.
Dr P Srinivasan, Chief Technical Officer SRM Technologies, said the company was planning to earn a revenue of one million USD in the first year of operations ending March 31, 2007.
