SC to hear a PIL against desealing by MCD today
New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The Supreme Court is going to hear a PIL challenging the validity of Delhi Laws (special provisions) Act, 2006 putting one year moratorumn against demolition of all unauthorised constructions in Delhi as well as against the sealing of commercial premises operating from residential areas at 3:15 pm today.
The writ petition filed by Residents Welfare Associations Joint Front and Citizens Voice, an NGO has challenged the validity of the Act on the ground that it amounted to legalising what is patently illegal and also demonstrated surrender of the government before builder's mafia, land grabbers and law breakers.
The Court decided to hear the matter today itself when the matter was mentioned by R L Panjwani, counsel for the petitioner before the vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and R V Raveendran for early hearing.
Meanwhile, the MCD has started the desealing process from today.
