Sania storms into second round in Istanbul Open

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Sania Mirza celebrated her return to court with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over local challenger and wild card Ipek Senoglu in the first round of Istanbul Open in Turkey today.

The Hyderabadi teenager, ranked 38th in the world, will meet Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands in the second round of the Tier III 200,000 dollar event tomorrow, according to information received here.

Earlier in the day, Michaella, sister of former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, was leading 6-0, 4-0 when her Russian opponent Irina Kotkina retired with a right elbow inflammation and conceded the match.
