Rural postal workers seek better pay

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) A National Convention of postal workers today demanded that the 'Gramin Dak Sevaks' be brought under the purview of the 6th Pay Commission.

Despite the judgement of the Supreme Court and the view of the 4th Pay Commission that 'Gramin Dak Sevaks' are in status at par with the rest of the Central Government employees, they have been treated as a category apart and not included under the terms of reference of the 6th Pay Commission, the All India Postal Extra Departmental Employees Union said.

Delegates to the convention also demanded pension and merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance with basic pay, it added.
