President Musharraf appoints new NWFP Governor
Islamabad, May 23 (UNI) Lt General (Retd) Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakazi has been appointed the new Governor of the Northwest Frontier Province (NWFP) in Pakistan by President Pervez Musharraf.
Lt Gen (Retd) Aurakzai, who supervised a series of military operations in the country's tribal region of South Waziristan against al-Qaeda fugitives, Taliban remanents and their local supporters, as the Corps Commander, Peshawar, replaces Khalil-ur-Rehman, who resigned last Sunday.
The Federal Government has appointed Mr Rehman as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Federal Minister, a press note, issued here this evening, said.
